Pat and Ali Schulte are a young couple who decided to get out of the rat-race for a while (a good while), buy a boat and cruise the world. It didn’t stop them for a minute that they knew very little about doing this 🙂
They seem to have pretty much succeeded. Their detailed and extensive web site chronicals a multi-year trip around the world. Great photography and an engaging writing style.
One difference from most is that they detail their expenses… a good way to learn a little of what things cost.
There seem to be several detractors from their trip since they have "no experience and no real clue as to what they are doing", etc. I guess that I agree that they could be a danger to themselves or others, but I don’t think they really were, and I think there should be some relaxation of the "uppity" side of yachting… everybody has to learn and ask questions. They learned, I guarantee it 🙂 And they are obviously intelligent people who were successful in the "real world" enough to buy a boat and take a few years off.
They are now finishing their cruise, seem to have their boat up for sale, and intend to start some land adventures next… probably be an interesting read 🙂
