One problem I see with the boating lifestyle is that often you want to tour the area you are in... if nothing else to check out the local resturants or reprovision the boat. For that, some places have good local transport (trains, busses, etc.), but others sure don't.

A bicycle is a good solution, if you can ride one (physically) and if the range and speed limitations suit you.

These electric bikes seem like they could be a good solution. As the driver of a Prius (hybrid), I now much more realize what a little electric "boost" can do for you... these bikes could be a good deal.
