Mixture of it being Open Source, easily self-hosted, I think it's a good design, and I like it?
It's a versatile platform and, at least when I started this setup, I was concerned about the licensing model of WordPress. I have a strong IT/UNIX background and enjoy working with the nuts and bolts.

In answer to your question, I find Drupal fairly easy and straightforward, but I come from an IT/hosting background and have been dealing with this kind of stuff a good while, so I may not be a good judge.
It's probably a bit more of a handful if you are new to web hosting, etc. Some hosts have "one-click" installs or the like that may help. Once it's up and running, day-to-day it's very nice.
