It's been a while since I've heard from DB and his nice little Origami Dinghy Barquito. Yesterday I got this nice video showing a Origami sailing away... looks like great fun!
In DB's words:
"It may not be crusing in a nutshell, but it was sailing in one." read more »
A man (and his dog) are aiming to build a 9' recreation of Joshua Slocum's famous Spray and circumnavigate the world. Not something I'm ready to bite off, but I wish them well!
This is a little different take on an online build blog where a professional shop is building the boat. Detailed postings, lots of pictures... really nice to see how the pro's do it (although it makes me think mine really looks bad in places). read more »
Courtney & Tara are building a Willow Bay "Shilling" - a 17 foot (length-on-deck) wooden day-sailer. This blog will document construction details and progress, from ordering study plans to launch day and beyond.
The Shilling is a Phil Swift designed small day-sailer. These guys are doing a nice job documenting their build. Lots of things to learn here.
I wanted to point out the recent comment "Dory Building Shop at Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center" which has some links to some interesting classic wood boatbuilding still happening in Gloucester.
Joey has a nice little blog going here. Not strictly boatbuilding, be definitely related to the sea and the lifestyle.
Ron Paro has pointed us toward his build log where he showcased his build of a Chesapeake Light Craft Jimmy Skiff. Very nice blog with lots of good, helpful details... not to mention a great looking boat.
Thanks for the tip, Ron, and good luck with your boat! read more »
