Well, made it to Home Depot...

This is just going to be a "lumberyard" type, out of whatever plain-jane wood I come up with. Its going to be painted, not varnished, and may look like crud, but we'll try.

First item was a metric tape measure... harder to find than expected, but did find a combination english/metric.

Then a couple of 1x6x8' boards as a starting point.

One splinter in Dane's hand and off we go.
