Submitted by cac on Sun, 2007-05-06 09:53Thanks to a Duckworks Magazine mailing list post for pointing me toward this page.
Jan Tiura was the first woman tugboat captain on San Francisco Bay... she has also been active in photography for much of her life. After driving any and all manner of tugs for years, she is making some of her photographs available at photoTIURA... really pretty stuff, much of it seen from the angle of a tug captain.
Tugster: A Waterblog
Submitted by cac on Tue, 2009-02-17 22:43A nifty site centering on the New York harbor... given the name, you can probably guess there are a lot of tugs included.
I enjoyed this gallery of some tugs apparently playing "push of war".
Jim Backus Yacht Designer
Submitted by cac on Mon, 2007-05-07 09:33Jim Backus was the designer of the Victory 37 tugs, among several other production boats. Currently he's working on a 55' Tractor Tug liveaboard design.
The result is presented here as a semi-production, fiberglass or aluminum construction displacement cruising powerboat. This design has been developed for live-aboard use...
As they are completed, he's adding nice, 3-D illustrations of the various spaces of the boat, with detailed descriptions. Check it out.
