Vertical Axis Propeller
Submitted by cac on Tue, 2010-04-06 22:47Was at the U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Ft. Submitted by cac on Sat, 2010-04-10 22:10Thanks very much to Fred, who did my work for me and found a more detailed link about the previous Vertical Axis propellers. These drives are becoming more common on various workboats where maneuverability is key (fireboats, tugs, etc.)

Power from slow moving water
Submitted by cac on Sun, 2009-11-01 22:56A new technology take on gaining energy from moving water. Being aimed at power generation from rivers and the like, I wonder if there is any future application for power recovery on sail boats and the like. Maybe even something for when you are anchored in a current. read more »
Hull slime
Submitted by cac on Thu, 2009-10-08 11:59Don't clean your hull, just let it exude its own slime, have no barnacles and save fuel. Be interesting to see if this one pans out.
