Kolstrand Marine Supply follow-up
Submitted by cac on Fri, 2008-12-19 20:28Some time back I covered Kolstrand Marine Supply as a possible source of goods. That sparked a fairly busy flurry of comments that seemed to show that Kolstrand has/had gone out of business. read more »
Kolstrand Marine Supply
Submitted by cac on Tue, 2008-06-17 09:49If you've followed some of the comments, it looked like Kolstrand Marine Supply had shut down. According to this comment that isn't totally correct.
I don't know the story or what's really going on, but if you are interested, you might give them a call at the numbers listed.
Epoxy sources
Submitted by v28build on Fri, 2007-06-01 12:06I continue to be busy shopping away for essential supplies. Can't get started without about three basics:
- Plywood
- Lumber (dimensional)
- Epoxy (or glue of choice)
This post is going to list some of the epoxy sources I've found. Other than recommendations and comments by others, I can't vouch for any of them, but wanted to list them all in one place so that I can find them again, and so that any of you who are wanting to shop can check them out.
First off, there is a good discussion on the WoodenBoat Forum that covers a lot of these suppliers, with opinions.
First off, there's always the "big boys" in the epoxy world:
Then there are some other suppliers that I've found:
- Fiberglass Supply
- Fiberglass Coatings, Inc.
- Progressive Epoxy Polymers, Inc. - this side has a lot of detailed epoxy information
- John Greer and Associates
- U.S. Composites
- Raka, Inc.
- B&B Yacht Designs - apparently they resell a nice to use epoxy at great prices... give them a call for details
Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics, Inc.

Another possible supplier for various outdoor fabrics, including vinyl coated polyester, as long as you want black (sounds like Henry Ford, huh?). Much less expensive.
Looks to be a nice little family run business, check it out.
Thanks for the link from a post on the Duckworks Mailing List by another Origami Dinghy builder. I hope to get some pictures of his craft soon.
Mauritzon, Inc.

Submitted by cac on Mon, 2006-12-11 22:07DB Fletcher Furniture Design has a couple of different "folding" and expanding table designs that have to be seen to be believed.
They are aimed at the HIGH end yacht, and I would love to have one in my house, but the neat idea and craftsmanship are certainly worth checking out.

Their capstan tables are beautiful. read more »

Perko, Inc.
Submitted by cac on Sun, 2009-06-28 23:38Saw a posting about a new line of LED lights by Tim Flanagan of Navagear. Looks like a nice line of lights.
I hadn't really looked at Perko before... neat looking supplier. They carry a wide range of boat supplies, lots of lighting and electrical, deck hardware, etc.
Polar Power
Submitted by cac on Tue, 2009-06-02 22:54A recent posting on the electricboats mailing list pointed me to the Polar Power, Inc. site. Their web site is quite out of date, but apparently some of the electric boat outfits think highly of their generators and charging solutions for their boats.
Might be worth checking out.
Odyssey Southeast - battery supplier
Submitted by cac on Mon, 2009-04-20 21:59A Florida (USA) based battery supplier... lots of options and products for the marine, RV and electric vehicle markets.
