Kolstrand Marine Supply

If you've followed some of the comments, it looked like Kolstrand Marine Supply had shut down. According to this comment that isn't totally correct.

I don't know the story or what's really going on, but if you are interested, you might give them a call at the numbers listed.

Epoxy sources

I continue to be busy shopping away for essential supplies. Can't get started without about three basics:

  • Plywood
  • Lumber (dimensional)
  • Epoxy (or glue of choice)

This post is going to list some of the epoxy sources I've found. Other than recommendations and comments by others, I can't vouch for any of them, but wanted to list them all in one place so that I can find them again, and so that any of you who are wanting to shop can check them out.

First off, there is a good discussion on the WoodenBoat Forum that covers a lot of these suppliers, with opinions.

First off, there's always the "big boys" in the epoxy world:

Then there are some other suppliers that I've found:

Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics, Inc.

Another possible supplier for various outdoor fabrics, including vinyl coated polyester, as long as you want black (sounds like Henry Ford, huh?). Much less expensive.

Looks to be a nice little family run business, check it out.

Thanks for the link from a post on the Duckworks Mailing List by another Origami Dinghy builder. I hope to get some pictures of his craft soon.
