A recent posting by a justifiably proud Dad over on Duckworks mailing list points us to some pictures of a very nice kayak. What's really special is that it was built by a 12 year old. Make sure and check out the link for more pictures. The design is the Little Dubber from Kayak Designs.

Robin and Warren of the Pepi have sold the boat! I'm sure that's a big relief to them as they move off to temporary quarters in Florida while awaiting the delivery of their new Island Pilot DSe.

This Duckworks Magazine article (part 3 of a series) shows another small boat builder getting his boat out of its build location and launched.

Nice looking boat and it's always so heartening to me to see other builders get on the water.

It's been a while since we've heard from Bryan and his Escargot... well, he dropped me a note the other day right before heading out on a cruise down to Lake Washington.

A neat twist (which I think would be nice to see more of) is that he has hooked up a blog that he can post a quick picture to remotely. His Big-Velo blog's last several entries allow you to follow along on his trip... really slick (not to mention I really like his boat :-)).

Courtney & Tara are building a Willow Bay "Shilling" - a 17 foot (length-on-deck) wooden day-sailer. This blog will document construction details and progress, from ordering study plans to launch day and beyond.

The Shilling is a Phil Swift designed small day-sailer. These guys are doing a nice job documenting their build. Lots of things to learn here.

OK, so it's an older article and we're talking 1976 dollars, but its still interesting and nothing that can't still be done today. Using traditional and newer, non-traditional methods you can have a boat that works well, less expensively than you might think.

You always hear about people building boats in garages or even backyards that they can't get them out of... well here it is again :-)
