Submitted by cac on Mon, 2009-03-23 20:33Here's an interesting take on an electric outboard... 2 E-Tek motors with a belt drive to a common shaft. This is just about what I need.
A second test run. read more »

Rinspeed sQuba - Amphibious Convertible?
Submitted by cac on Mon, 2008-02-18 09:54Even powered by batteries (how well does that mix with water?) so it's zero emissions.
My only real question is the convertible aspect. I guess if you leave the top down and drive enough after you come out of the water it will dry you off :-)

Greenline Hybrid
Submitted by cac on Wed, 2009-12-23 18:41Here's a very nice looking, 33' commercial diesel-electric hybrid setup. Design goal calls for a battery range of about 20 miles, which would be enough for a lot of little day trips on its own. read more »
Helix Wind
Submitted by cac on Tue, 2009-12-22 15:41Another take on wind power... my Dad sent it along suggesting it for my boat. A full size one (20') seems it might be a bit big for me, but a smaller unit (or a bigger boat) and it might be just the thing.
pi mobility
Submitted by cac on Wed, 2009-09-23 21:12Another in our series of bicycle posts. Yes, its a boat blog, but many, many boaters use bicycles to get around when they are ashore. Easy to transport and (at least sometimes) easier than walking.
Now technology is bringing many of our interests together. Electric based bicycles. Just another place the electric world is converging. read more »
Australian Electric Vehicle Association
Submitted by cac on Fri, 2009-05-08 22:31The Australian Electric Vehicle Association seems to be an active group geared mostly around land vehicles, but the technology for making a DIY (do it yourself) electric boat setup and an electric car are much the same.
Active forums look to be a great place to learn.
Battery Advances
Submitted by cac on Mon, 2009-03-16 21:34More possible advances in battery technology. They are claiming to be able to rapidly charge and discharge a battery. This lets you have a fast electric "fill-up". Of course they are looking at automobiles, but a lot of these things will really overlap with the marine world.
