Submitted by cac on Wed, 2006-10-11 23:45George Buehler has a great collection of craft (there are several links to his work on this page already).
I've recently added some further information and links at George Buehler Yacht Design and Diesel Ducks.Pro's of his designs: read more »
Design Catalog
Submitted by cac on Sat, 2006-10-07 20:10I'm going to try to put together a general catalog of designs that interest me, some commentary on what I like and dislike about each, and some general requirements. Hopefully as I flesh this out I can narrow some choice and determine more of my true requirements vs. wants. That's not to say that I might not decide a 'want' isn't a requirement - after all, the entire boat is more of a want than a need :-)
Beuhler's Backyard Boatbuilding
Since we're on a Beuhler roll, I'll toss a quick mini-review in here.
This was one of the first "building" type books I picked up (ordered actually). Its an easy read, with a very down-to-earth style. Beuhler believes in a simple, rough and ready building style. Over build it, make it strong enough, and go boating. That's my own take, not his words :-)
Anyway, lots of good details, reasonable ideas, pointers to materials, terminiology and even several small plans in the back that you can build if you want (and have good eyes to read at that scale).
You can read Amazon's excerpt or check their web page (click the book icon) and see other much more detailed reader reviews.

Pepi's Floating!
Submitted by cac on Tue, 2010-05-18 12:11Warren and Robin have a real boat that floats now!
Congrats on a successful launch, beautiful boat! More pics on their page.
They're getting close!
Submitted by cac on Mon, 2010-03-08 22:34Robin and Warren, first of the Pepi and now building a Beuhler Diesel Duck in Turkey are on the downhill stretch.
Looking to launch in a month or so... I can only imagine the feeling.
Custom Steel Yacht Building - In Turkey
Submitted by cac on Wed, 2009-07-15 21:54If you recall, Robin and Warren moved on from the Pepi to having a Beuhler Diesel Duck built in Turkey.
This is the web site of the builder, who they seem to have been very pleased with. Most of the commercially built Ducks have come from the far east it seems, but Turkey looks like it might be another viable alternative if you want to have a steel hulled craft built offshore.
Seems like a capable outfit... lots of 3D computer images, etc. on their site.
Diesel Duck 44 for sale
Submitted by cac on Sun, 2009-04-19 19:39This is just a gorgeous Diesel Duck that's currently listed on Yacht World. The picture gallery is worth checking out to see a very nicely built and outfitted yacht.
Probably a good price if you can do that.
