Plans arrived!

Mark promptly came through with the plans... there's more to absorb here than any 100 sittings will manage :-)

Line drawings seem well done, lots of dimensions. A few pages of text, recommending materials, construction methods, etc. A few pages of pictures of the V39 (there hasn't been a V28 built yet, but the designs are similar in several aspects).

Full size dimensions are given, along with a table of offsets if you want to loft things yourself.

Flat bottomed version

have had a few people that would prefer a flat-bottomed version, but I think that the V-bottomed version would be a better all-around boat. It is not that much more work, perhaps 20 to 40 hours extra work total. Basicaly, you just have one more chine to deal with.

I'll be watching...

...your progress and commentary very closely. I'm looking at building a retirement liveaboard in the next year or two. I love Mark's V39 design, but it's a bit big. The V28 looks just about perfect. Although since I'll be mostly on rivers the vee bottom adds a complication to the build. Pounding in a chop isn't a big deal to me. I wonder if the V28 could be flat-bottomed without hurting anything.

Might could but...

Having looked through the plans a good bit, Mark has done a lot of work changing this to a V-bottom... I'm sure it could be changed otherwise, but it would be pretty significant, I think. Bruce
