Kolstrand Marine Supply

Apparently Kolstrand has gone out of business (see comments below).

Another recommendation passed on by Dan Gill (Backyard Boatbuilding mailing list).

Kolstrand Marine Supply is a Seattle based supplier of fishing boat gear. They have a small website with a few things online and a PDF catalog (a scanned copy of their paper catalog).

According to Dan:

...if its used on a fishing vessel, they have it.

  No frilly yacht stuff.  Just heave duty stuff in Bronze, Stainless, and HDG that has proven itself in such harsh environments as the Aleutian Islands, Bering sea, North sea where peoples lives and livelyhood depend on it working day after day.  They are strong on hydraulics, too. ...

   The people that answer the phones there are very helpful and glad to take some time to go over things with you.  Many of them are from fishing families and have used what they sell.  Anyway, if you are trying to find some heavy duty stuff for a serious powerboat, give 'em a call.

Kolstrand

I paid $15,000 for an order in July of last year that included a Longline Reel which I recieved in July of 2008 but I haven't got the Halibut SideRoller, Snatch Block, or the Mast Clamp that were part of the order. Anybody got any ideas on how I'm supposed get the rest of my stuff? Bill Mathisen Nome, Alaska

Wow, looks like word or rumors get around fast. The truth is YES, Kolstrand is having financial problems although WE are trying to come back bigger and better. And I'm not saying that those employees who left and started their own business are at fault, but it is not helping our situation. Those of you out there USING the Kolstrand name to build your business and those actually making Replica's of Kolstrand products, GOOD LUCK! NO one in the industry is allowed to use nor has our patterns/or drawings!!! Anyone using Kolstrand's Name and/or pictures are not allowed to do so and will be dealt with legally. If you are looking for Kolstarnd products we can still help you and are working on making an even bigger come back! Those of you who posted blogs on this and any other web sites SHAME ON YOU for trying to promote yourself by making the Kolstrand Name go down. Kolstrand has been around since 1929 and we are not planning on loosing our family business! Thank you to all those loyal Kolstrand Marine Supply Customers through the years, were working on it!!! Kolstrand Equipment

Just letting everyone know.. Kolstrand's Marine equipment is available form Go2marine... Power Blocks, Grips, Haulers, Winches, Power Units.. etc. The Go2 website has prices too! Great company with very knowledgable people.. Take a look at www.go2marine.com
