Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Coverage
Mad Mariner™ is providing some detailed coverage of the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in the form of a blog by writers they have attending the show. Lots of pictures and articles.
If you can't be there in person, might be worth a look, for the ideas if nothing else.
For full disclosure, I write some paid articles for Mad Mariner™.
Pepper's Ark
Submitted by cac on Fri, 2008-10-31 10:02Dick Pepper has finished up a very nice 28' Bartender in Tennessee. He had the hull built at the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building and then finished it out himself.
Very nice boat!

Hunter's Edge 27
Submitted by cac on Thu, 2008-10-30 21:57Mad Mariner™ has posted a review (in their series of reviews... check out the others) of the Hunter Edge 27. This is a slick little boat. Its the first motorsailer of a "new breed" that seems to be coming out. Aimed at a younger crowd who are interested in trailerable boats for quick weekend trips, it aims to appeal to both powerboaters and sail boaters.
The only motorsailer I've ever seen with a picture of a water skier behind it :-) read more »

HDS, a major Lowrance refresh
Today Lowrance is announcing a new series of multifunction displays called HDS that I’m excited about seeing at the boat show (and trying when they ship in a few months). The acronym stands for High Definition System, and seems justified on several counts...

All About Houseboats
Submitted by cac on Wed, 2008-10-29 22:09An interesting looking page with lots of houseboat links. I don't normally cover them here, since there are lots of communities online that specialize in houseboats, but don't ignore the possibility. Especially if you are interested in river and/or Great Loop cruising, lots of people find a houseboat just the think.
A yacht as your tender
Submitted by cac on Wed, 2008-10-29 21:58A "shadow yacht"? A large, yacht size boat going along just for support services?
Seems a bit much. I'll be happy just to have a basic tender for when the need arises.
